Culture Night is the largest platform to showcase the country’s cultural offering and represents an extremely powerful and positive image of the vast contribution culture can make to our society. It celebrates the cultural and artistic richness of Ireland and provides us all with opportunities to participate in cultural events throughout the country. Artists and arts organisations in conjunction with Ealaín na Gaeltachta Teo, have come together again this this year to organise a wealth of activities for you to participate in or simply enjoy at your leisure. It is a fantastic occasion to showcase the rich, valuable and unique cultural vibrancy of the Gaeltacht.  Remember, all events are free of charge so join us in celebrating your culture!

Pól Ó Ceannabháin

Gaeltacht Ambassador

We are delighted to announce Pól Ó Ceannabháin as this year’s Gaeltacht Ambassador for Culture Night. Pól Mhicheál Mháire Ghabha Ó Ceannabháin was born and raised in Ard Thoir in Carna, Connemara. He grew with a musical family of sean-nós singing, immersed in the traditional music scene. He is the son of the well-known sean-nós singer, Michael Mháire Ghabha and musician, Máire Ghabha. It is from his parents and grandparent that Pól has obtained his musical ability of sean-nós singing and song-writing.

Paul is often to be seen on the big screen singing, acting or as a presenter. He was awarded Singer of the Year award in 2016 at Gradam Ceoil TG4.

Pól will host a special event live on Facebook for Culture Night, where he will invite his family members to be with him for an evening of songs and stories by the hearth.
