Oíche Chultúir sa Ghaeltacht

We welcome applications from individuals and groups who wish to organise an event to be held in the Gaeltacht as part of Culture Night. We welcome applications that allow young people to participate and celebrate their culture.

Culture Night is an annual national event that platforms the country’s cultural life and gives the public a special opportunity to participate in cultural, arts, and heritage events, free of charge. This year’s Culture Night will take place on Friday, 18 September 2026. 

We welcome applications from individuals and groups who wish to organise an event to be held in the Gaeltacht as part of Culture Night 2026. We welcome applications that give children and young people the opportunity to participate in and celebrate their culture. 

*This scheme has a limited budget and it cannot be assumed that funding/the maximum amount will be available for any project. Priority will be given to groups/individuals who connect and collaborate with other groups to run events together so that the community can get the most out of the Night. 

Funding criteria 

The following will be taken into account when considering the application: 

  • A clearly presented approach towards a cultural event for the Gaeltacht community which is creative, imaginative and of high-quality.The Irish language will be central to the programme and the running of the event. 
  • Participation of professional artists in the event, receiving appropriate fees. 
  • Connection and collaboration with other groups. 
  • The event(s) will be free for the public to attend. 
  • The event will be well-publicised in good time.
